Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers should immediately add Tofino to their bucket list. Often known as the “jewel of Canada’s west coast”, Tofino’s location in the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve makes it the ultimate spot for an outdoor adventure and to witness the natural beauty of Canada.
Visitors to Tofino can enjoy hiking, camping, surfing, fishing, whale watching, bird watching and even bear watching (from the safety of a boat tour). Tofino also boasts great food, a wide variety of accommodations and a burgeoning art scene.
Head to Chesterman beach, one of the most popular beaches in Tofino with almost three kilometers of white sand. Here, you can learn to surf, or you can try stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) at MacKenzie Beach where waters are calmer. Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is close by where you’ll find the stretch of Long beach, Florencia Bay, Wickaninnish, Combers and Schooner Cove beaches, the series of which creates the longest sand dune on Vancouver Island, stretching for over 16 kilometres.
Whether you’re hiking, biking, whale watching, or simply relaxing on the beach, you’re guaranteed to have a great time in Tofino. Take a look at these photos that prove it.
