Anyone who’s ever attended a hockey game can tell you that watching the game on TV just doesn’t compare. Nothing beats the excitement and passion of a packed arena, especially the ones listed here. Take a look at these hockey arenas we think are worth a visit.
Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh Penguins
Consol Energy Center is one of the newer arenas and has set the bar high for future sports centres. It is the most eco-friendly sports centre in the NHL and is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certified. Consol Energy Center has made convenience and comfort a priority by providing fans with 800 HD TVs, an HD centre-ice scoreboard, concession points for every 158 visitors and has the most comfortable seating in the NHL.
Xcel Energy Center, Minnesota Wild
Excel Energy Center is one of the finest arenas in the world. Its modern design attracts millions to be part of more than 150 sporting and entertainment events each year. Aside from enjoying a hockey game, you can take a walk through one or all of the eight exhibits on display, sign your name on the puck wall, stop by one of the four interactive crow’s nests or have a bite to eat at the concessions, bars, restaurants or lounges.
Centre Bell, Montreal Canadiens
Centre Bell is the biggest arena in the NHL, seating more than 21,000 passionate fans. With cutting technology to ensure the perfect atmosphere, watching a hockey game at Centre Bell is an experience that cannot be beat. Before the game be sure to check out the Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame featuring 930 square metres of never-before-seen artifacts, then after the game, head downtown to the numerous bars and restaurants to continue your exciting night.
Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Flames
There are many unique things about the Saddledome: For starters, it’s shaped like a saddle and it is one of the oldest arenas in the NHL, making it instantly cool in our eyes. Inside, you’ll not only find history, you will experience a culture and atmosphere like no other. Each seat has an uninterrupted view of the rink so you’ll be sure to enjoy the game from anywhere.
TD Garden, Boston Bruins
TD Garden is packed full of energy year round, hosting more than 200 events and accommodating well over 3.5 million people. No matter which event you come for, whether it be a hockey game or a concert, the atmosphere, which is often driven by passionate fans, is electric. “The Garden,” as locals call it (not to be confused with Madison Square Garden, where the NY Rangers play) is very easy to access with train and bus spots located below, as well as its own parkade.
