Is the Grand Canyon on your bucket list? If it’s not, it should be. This awe-inspiring natural wonder stretches about 446 kilometres end to end, is 29 kilometres wide, and nearly two kiloemetres deep. So it’s not surprising that roughly five million people come to visit the Grand Canyon each year.

There are many ways to take in the beauty of the Grand Canyon and there is a lot to do in Grand Canyon National Park. The most popular option is seeing the canyon by car from overlooks at the South Rim. This area of the park is the most accessible and open all year round. But you can also gaze at the canyon while hiking and backpacking (there are many hiking trails to choose from), riding mules or taking a river trip on the Colorado River that runs through the Grand Canyon. Trips along the Colorado River can take anywhere from one-day, to three weeks.

You can cross the canyon on foot via the South Kaibab Trail on a narrow footbridge that sits about 21 meters above the water below.
