More than 1,600 islands create the spectacular views of Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site whose name means “where the dragon descends into the sea.” According to local legend, Ha Long Bay’s limestone pillars are the result of a great dragon crashing into the ocean, creating a bay and leaving only these limestone peaks above the water.
